FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANTIOCH, Tenn. (Nov. 17, 2017) – Knowledge Academies will hold a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Dec. 2 to announce the launch of a new initiative to celebrate the role families play in learning.

The event will coincide with the release of a new student-driven publication, Stay Connected! Knowledge Academies. Copies of the 52-page magazine will be available at the ribbon cutting.

The new initiative, Empower the Journey, will celebrate families as a vital component to learning. Knowledge Academies relies on the premise that children learn best when family members, business leaders and community partners engage them and their school in learning.

KA is using all sorts of methods to encourage participation, such as health and career fairs, and plans call for the launch of a new outdoor learning program in 2018.

The Connect Magazine, a Nashville-based inspired living publication for entrepreneurs and young professionals, is one of KA’s community partners. The new magazine, written by students and KA staff, is modeled after The Connect and gives students a vehicle to express themselves.

The ribbon cutting will include tours of KA’s new learning campus at 5320 Hickory Hollow Parkway. Officials expect students, families, staff and community partners to attend the event, and the public is welcome.

Knowledge Academies serves students and families on one campus and holds three separate public charter agreements with Metro Nashville Public Schools. The school commenced operations in 2012 with a fifth-grade class. Its first graduating class will be in 2019.
